Hidden Game: Canadiens still no match for defending Cup champion Hurricanes
When the highlight of the evening is the pregame ceremony, there’s a problem.
The Canadiens launched their home regular-season schedule Tuesday night at the Bell Centre with a simple, yet eloquent, celebration — something this organization has mastered over the years.
From the wonderful interpretation of Robert Charlebois’s classic “Je reviendrai a Montréal,” released 50 years ago, sung magnificently by the Collège Vocal choir and led by Gregory Charles, to the standing ovation accorded Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis — still adored by this city’s hockey fans — it was all done with taste and aplomb.
