La Victoire de Montréal joins Le BUT Foundation for 12H DEK CCM
Women’s hockey will take centre stage Saturday, October 3, when several prominent members of La Victoire de Montréal join the Le BUT Foundation for the fifth edition of the 12H DEK CCM this Saturday at the HBLL Centre in Mirabel.
Ann-Renée Desbiens, Caroline Ouellette, Kori Cheverie and Kim St-Pierre will be part of the family-oriented event, marking the first time La Victoire has partnered with the 12H DEK CCM. The event’s theme is “United by hockey. Mobilized for a cause.”
The day will feature activities for hockey fans of all ages, with $10 activity wristbands providing access to a variety of attractions.
The highlight will be a special women’s hockey game presented by Intact Insurance. Players from La Victoire will face the host team taking part in the 12H event, with the La Victoire lineup being supplemented by elite local players from the Mistral team. “
Fans will also have an opportunity to meet members of La Victoire, take photographs, obtain autographs and enjoy entertainment throughout the day. An official La Victoire merchandise booth will also be on site.
Among those scheduled to attend are goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens, hockey legend Caroline Ouellette, La Victoire head coach Kori Cheverie, and former Canadian star Kim St-Pierre, who now serves as the club’s Director of Operations.
The partnership also puts the spotlight on the work of the Le BUT Foundation, which was founded in October 2022 by Sports Rousseau – Groupe Gendron with the goal of making hockey more accessible to young people across Quebec. The foundation provides complete hockey equipment and covers registration fees for children whose families might otherwise struggle with the rising cost of playing the sport. “It’s so important because more and more there’s so many barriers for the kids and families to access sport and physical activity,” Kim St-Pierre said. “I think there’s a few foundations out there like Jump Start and Foundation Le But is targeted more for hockey. We see a lot of newcomers, a lot of new people being interested in hockey, and equipment can be a barrier and sign-up fees as well. And we know that hockey is expensive with all the equipment. I think with having a foundation like Le BUT, it’s incredible the impact that they’ve had over the last few years, and they they’re committed to keep impacting so many families and people all over Quebec. That’s why with La Victoire, we’re happy to be at the event on Saturday because we want more kids into the game, into hockey, because for us it was a life changer, and we want to hope that a lot of people get that chance.”
For St-Pierre, the partnership represents an opportunity to combine the growth of women’s hockey with the goal of making the sport more accessible. “Our players and even staff like Caro (Caroline Ouellette) and Kori (head coach Cheverie) will be there. It’s incredible that they want to spend time and go to Mirabel for this event. It’s our fourth season, and being in the community, it’s something that we value. That our players take pride, take commitment, and they want to do these events because that’s where they get to meet our fans. They inspire the kids, and so I think the more we can be in community events like this one, for sure, it’s something that we value as a team.
The 12H DEK CCM will bring together hockey, family activities and fundraising, with La Victoire’s involvement providing a high-profile connection between Montreal’s professional women’s hockey team and the next generation of players.
