Saint-Laurent MNA moves from politics to radio

Saint-Laurent MNA Marwah Rizqy will soon be moving from politics to French-language radio, replacing Isabelle Maréchal afternoons on QUB, 99.5 FM on the dial.

Rizqy, who was first elected in 2018, had announced in 2024 that she was not running for re-election in the provincial election this October, stating at the time, “I want to live my role as a mother to the fullest. I want to be able to be in the same city as my young children and be able to tuck them in at night.”

In late 2025, Rizqy was expelled from the Quebec Liberal caucus, after first being suspended by then-QLP leader, Pablo Rodriguez, for firing her chief of staff, Geneviève Hinse, without telling him first. This took place amidst several crises affecting the party, and Rodriguez eventually stepped down as party leader, to be replaced by Charles Milliard. Rizqy continued to sit as an independent.

In late 2024, Rizqy had also requested police protection after being repeatedly threatened and harassed for helping to expose the religious practices being inappropriately employed at École Bedford in Côte des Neiges.

The news of Rizqy’s move to the media sector first came from Le Soleil, which revealed that she will co-host an afternoon show this fall with Rémi Villemure, who is said to support Quebec sovereignty.

Rizqy will begin broadcasting after the Oct. 5 election takes place, La Presse reports. A new candidate will have to be found for the Saint-Laurent riding.
