Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Console and Accessory Preorders Are Live in the UK

Update: Sept 10, 11:14 am BST: Amazon is the most recent UK retailer to have preorders up, but it is now out of stock there as well. Stay tuned for more updates. The original article continues below.

While the US and Australia were treated to The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 preorders almost immediately after the dedicated Zelda Nintendo Direct, those in the UK have had to wait patiently for the listings to go live.

Well, the wait is over, and preorders are now starting to go live at Nintendo’s UK store and other UK retailers like Smyths Toys. But act fast, as I suspect the special edition console and accessories will sell out remarkably quickly (as they already have in the US).

Here’s where to lock in your preorder and what stores to keep an eye on as preorders continue to go live throughout today and the rest of the week.

Amazon is also now taking preorders for the Switch 2 Pro Controller, but is charging £89.99 rather than £79.99 like other retailers (it doesn’t include the display stand like at the Nintendo Store).

Notably, Nintendo’s UK storefront is currently struggling with the sheer number of people trying to purchase the limited-edition console and accessories, so keep trying if you’re not having any luck, or open a new browser and try access that way instead.

There’s also an automated queue system in place for those trying to access the site, so keep that in mind as well.

These specific Smyths Toys UK stores still have stock available (at least for now):

  • Ballymena
  • Newstownabbey
  • Boucher Road
  • Forestside
  • Bangor
  • Derry/Londonderry
  • Newry

Select “Click & Collect” – “Select Store” then “Only show stores with available stock”.

We’re still waiting on listings at Argos, Currys, and several other major retailers. Follow IGNUKFinds on X/Twitter for more updates.

The special edition comes decked out in Hyrulian imagery and costs £434.99 via Nintendo (no game included), or £429.99 via other retailers like Smyths and Very.

The Joy-Cons 2 are green, with an interlocking triangle pattern and a golden Triforce at the bottom of the left grip. The dock features a similar Triforce design, but it’s golden and black.

The 40th anniversary Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller combines the designs of the Joy-Cons 2 and the dock from the console all into one controller.

The left grip is black, while the right grip is green. The face plate has a black and gold Triforce design. It’s available as a controller only at various retailers like Smyths (out of stock) and Amazon for £89.99, or with a stand exclusively at the Nintendo Store for £92.99.

You can also pick up a Zelda-themed carrying case for your Switch 2. It’s black and gold, with a Triforce design. The zipper pulls add a fetching splash of green as well.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Update, Sept 10, 11:17 am BST: Physical copies of the game are sold out at Nintendo (£58.99), but are still available at Smyths for slightly cheaper at £54.99).

And, while you’re at it, you might as well preorder The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of TIme for Nintendo Switch 2 as well. Preorders are live at Nintendo for £58.99, and at Smyths for £54.99.

Note as well, the first print run for Ocarina of Time will feature the shiny foil box art, which looks absolutely stunning. I’ve also had it confirmed that the Smyths Toys preorders will include the textured foil sleeve.

Nintendo also has preorders for the game and an exclusive bonus Ocarina of Time Pin for £61.98.
