On Saturday, Aug. 22, the MSOPA (Montreal School of Performing Arts) will hold its all-you-can-eat 34th Annual Fundraising Barbeque to benefit their “Acting Out!” project. The BYOB event will take place between 4 and 11 p.m. at the UNIA Building, 2741 Notre Dame St. W. in Little Burgundy. Food will be prepared by home cook chef, and MSOPA founder, Josa Maule, along with Owen on the grill. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available along with live entertainment, raffles, surprises, and music provided by DJ Gene King.
Over three decades, Maule’s MSOPA has built and fostered a sense of community, encouraging people to find their voice within a safe, nurturing space where they can explore and realize their potential. “MSOPA collaborates with culturally diverse schools and community organizations to give at-risk youths (in the social system, behavioral problems, or mental illness), low-income single-parent families, newly arrived refugee families,” stated Maule. “Through acting, we encourage people to find their voice within a safe, fun, challenging and nurturing space where they can explore and realize their potential. Programs like “Acting Out!”, along with other youth programs that we offer, receive little to no funding.”
General admission is $35, children under 10 yrs., $15. For ticket and/or donations, use Zeffy; E-transfer [memo BBQ ticket(s)] to info@msopa.com or rsvp.msopa@gmail.com
