Montreal-Trudeau airport saw more passenger traffic in Q2

Passenger traffic recorded a significant increase at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport during its second quarter of operations in 2024, with 5.56 million travellers transiting the airport, an increase of 6.3 per cent compared with the same period a year earlier, Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) announced on Wednesday.

Overall, passenger traffic increased by 8.6 per cent for the first two quarters of 2024 compared with the same period a year earlier, with 10.6 million passengers.

Cross-border and international flights continued to increase during the second quarter, jumping respectively by 12.9 per cent and 12.4 per cent compared with the same period last year.

However the number of passengers for flights within Canada dropped by 0.4 per cent.

ADM president Yves Beauchamp said “ADM’s teams remain motivated by the same goal: to provide a quality welcome and service to our passengers.”

The excess of revenues over expenses before financial expense, income taxes, depreciation and impairment, and share in the results of joint ventures (EBITDA) stood at $116.3 million, an increase of 11 per cent over the second quarter of 2023.

Consolidated revenues totalled $229.2 million for the second quarter, an increase of $25.6 million or 12.6 per cent.

Operating expenses also increased by 20.1 per cent to reach $77.4 million.

ADM’s net debt remains stable at $2.16 billion.
